GLYCOSIDE RESEARCH

GLYCOSIDES DEFINED

Source: Wikipedia Encyclopedia

In chemistry, glycosides are certain molecules in which a sugar part is bound to some other part. Glycosides play numerous important roles in living organisms. Many plants (and fruits) store important chemicals in the form of inactive glycosides; if these chemicals are needed, the glycosides are brought in contact with water and an enzyme, and the sugar part is broken off, making the chemical available for use. Many such plant glycosides are used as medications. Formally, a glycoside is any molecule in which a sugar group is bonded through its anomeric carbon to another group via an O-glycosidic bond or an S-glycosidic bond; glycosides involving the latter are also called thioglycosides. The given definition is the one used by IUPAC. Many authors require in addition that the sugar be bonded to a non-sugar for the molecule to qualify as a glycoside, thus excluding the polysaccharides. The sugar group is then known as the glycone and the non-sugar group as the aglycone or genin part of the glycoside. The glycone can consist of a single sugar group (monosaccharide) or several sugar groups (oligosaccharide).

GLYCOSIDE HATCHLINGS

Trutina Dulcem’s ongoing glycoside research (since 1997) has led to the development of TD “hatchlings”, so called because they were borne/hatched from the original kiwi fruit-extraction process.

These new hatchlings are being developed from many different species of fruit, while researchers keep intact the phytochemical and glycoside benefits related to each fruit.

SCIENTIFIC DATA
CLINICAL TRIALS

Since 1997, Trutina Dulcem has undergone numerous Board Approved Human In Vivo Clinical Trials in adults, children, and diabetics:

Trutina Dulcem is Certified Low Glycemic, and has been clinically proven not to stimulate human LPL Adipose Tissue Fat-Storage.

Trutina Dulcem does not activate primary Lipoprotein Lipase human fat-storing mechanisms, and does not  elevate blood glucose or insulin levels in normal persons and in type 2 diabetics.

Trutina Dulcem has been shown to act as an “Anti-Carbohydrate” in clinical trials

DIABETIC APPLICATIONS

Trutina Dulcem is an insulin-independent low glycemic carbohydrate. Trutina Dulcem may be used in diabetic formulations including meal replacement drinks and bars, medical feeding formulas, low glycemic ice cream and candies, diabetic candies, and products for diabetic children. Trutina Dulcem may serve a useful role in the dietary management of blood sugar levels, since substitution of Trutina Dulcem for other simple carbohydrates should lead to reduced post-prandial glucose levels that will aid in overall control (click Diabetic navigation button for Diabetic Chart).

In persons with type 2 diabetes, the requirement for insulin is greater than that produced by the pancreas. Foods and sweeteners that produce a lower secretion of insulin, ie, those that are low glycemic, are known to be beneficial for glucose metabolism. In type 2 diabetics, consuming 60 grams of Trutina Dulcem as compared to their typical diabetic meal (for 12 weeks) resulted in decreases in both serum glucose (SG) and glycated hemoglobin concentrations (GHC), which progressively decreased in the group treated with Trutina Dulcem. In the control group not using TD, both SG and GHC increased. This resulted in improvements in glycemic control and alterations in apoprotein composition, which decrease risk of coronary events in humans. Utilizing low glycemic sweeteners and carbohydrates that do not stimulate blood glucose and insulin levels is essential in the long-term prevention of obesity in humans. The use of low glycemic sweeteners that possess thermogenic properties further improves short and long-term treatment of obesity and type 2 diabetes. Reducing the use of high glycemic carbohydrates, sugars, and sweeteners while increasing DIT improves incidence, risk, and development of said disorders.

TRUTINA DULCEM MANUFACTURING APPLICATIONS

Trutina Dulcem glycosides were developed for use in LOW GLYCEMIC foods, beverages, and Nutraceuticals.

In Pharmaceutical applications, Trutina Dulcem can be utilized in drug delivery, chemotherapy, tissue engineering, genetics, Nanoparticle biotechnology, LOW GLYCEMIC cough syrups and preparations, Sickle Cell, Dysregulated Arginine Metabolism, and amino acid transport systems that cross the Blood-Brain-Barrier (BBB).

Trutina Dulcem is the first (1997) proven LOW GLYCEMIC technology for natural glycoside engineering. The evolution of utilizable sweet glycosides occurs as a result of the (non-published, proprietary) Trutina Dulcem 32-step process, including the removal of glycosides from organic kiwi fruit.

NUTRIGENOMICS

Trutina Dulcem is currently utilized in the genetic research field of NutriGenomics (www.GeneFoundation.com) as a carrier-mediated-transporter in Sickle Cell disease, Alzheimer’s disease, Thalassemia, Genetic Polymorphisms, Dysregulated Arginine Metabolism, and generation of Pituitary Growth Hormone (GH).
